About

Sustainability is the heart of Maid of Cloth. Each piece is slowly and considerately handmade in Dorset, using carefully selected and sourced materials.

As a Textile Design graduate, specializing in mixed media and hand embroidery, I have an immense appreciation for detail, quality and longevity. I do all I can to ensure that my pieces reflect this and embody the care that is too often lacking from the industry.

I believe that a slower more considered approach to fashion is essential, but not at the detriment of creative design and individualism.

Pattern and slow stitch are crucial elements within many of my redesigned pieces, I find solace in the never ending possibilities, and a rhythmic state of progress within their creation.

Having grown up on Dartmoor, and lived across the South West, the designing process often draws from nature, heritage design and symbolism. The use of found materials frequently leads the color conversations but pattern, form and stitch transform them into something new, yet timeless.

Sometimes these designs are used in creating something new, others are used to recreate an existing item, covering signs of wear, or simply giving value to something otherwise overlooked.
